How to create slideshows with Microsoft Photo Story 3 for Windows XP

This post is based from another one user request. This time around the request was is there way better way of creating photo slides other than using Microsoft Office PowerPoint. The straight forward answer is Yes. Of course there are many alternative utilites for Windows XP to create slides shows.

The user requirements for the utility includes:

  • Has to offer many effects
  • Easy to use – our users are very intellectual people but when it comes to technology, well I must admit they’re not the sharpest tools in the shed.
  • Can add music
  • Can add narration
  • Can add titles to each pictures
  • Must be compatible with Windows XP (d’oh!)
  • The application is cheap i.e. FREE

xB Browser – Anonymous Surfing

Continuing from IronKey’s secure surfing via a hardened version of the popular Mozilla Firefox browser, xb Browser is another service which provides anonymous and secure surfing through once again Firefox. Basically anonymous and secure surfing is achieved via proxy server. All you need to do is download and install the browser and you’re ready for secure browsing. No configuration required.

How to unlock i-mate Smartphones for emails

This article applies for the following Smartphones:

  • i-mate SP5
  • i-mate SP Jas
  • i-mate Smartflip

It is also assumed Outlook Mobile Access is enabled and configured on your Microsoft Exchange environment.

In the previous post “How to set up i-mate Smartphone to receive emails from Microsoft Exchange” I covered the main components in setting up smartphone’s to able to receive emails from MS Exchange Server via OMA.

GPRS Access points for Telstra, Optus and Vodafone Austrlia for Smartphones

With my last post I mentioned you will need to set up the GPRS access points on smartphones to receive emails on the go from Microsoft Exchange 2003 via Outlook Mobile Access.

The list below outlines the GPRS settings required from the 3 major telcos in Australia:

  • Vodafone – vfinternet.au
  • Telstra - telstra.wap.mnc001.mcc505.gprs
  • Optus – Enter the access point as “internet” and enter the following DNS: 202.139.83.3 and 192.65.91.129
