How to create slideshows with Microsoft Photo Story 3 for Windows XP

This post is based from another one user request. This time around the request was is there way better way of creating photo slides other than using Microsoft Office PowerPoint. The straight forward answer is Yes. Of course there are many alternative utilites for Windows XP to create slides shows.

The user requirements for the utility includes:

  • Has to offer many effects
  • Easy to use – our users are very intellectual people but when it comes to technology, well I must admit they’re not the sharpest tools in the shed.
  • Can add music
  • Can add narration
  • Can add titles to each pictures
  • Must be compatible with Windows XP (d’oh!)

How resize pictures with Windows XP’s Image Resizer

I was asked recently by one of our user what’s an easy way to resize images taken with a digital camera before emailing them. I had two immediate thoughts about this request. The first was now that’s a smart and considerate user. The fact that this user thought about resizing the images instead of just attaching the images and creating a 40MB size email was very smart. This process avoids users sending large sized emails that have the potential of impacting the mail servers. The second thought was which one do I recommend? Let’s face it there are multitude free and commercial applications that can perform this task.
