How to enable disabled Outlook Addins the easy way

This post outlines the process of enabling disabled Outlook Addins using Outlook Disabled Items applet.

Not long ago I posted the article “Outlook 2003 Out of Office Assistant Error: The command is not available. See the program documentation about how to use this extension” which discussed how to enable the disabled Outlook Addin (in this case the Out of Office addin) via the Registry.

Basically it was a matter of launching the Registry Editor (regedit) and crawling to find the entry to delete.

Now building from the previous post there is a better and easier to enable Outlook addins that has been disabled without using the Registry Editor.

For Outlook 2007 – To enable Outlook addins easily launch Outlook click on Help from the Toolbar

Enable Outlook Addins the easy way

Selecting Disabled Items…opens up the following dialogue box:

Outlook Addins - Disabled Items dialogue box

Outlook addins that has been disabled should be listed here.

By selecting the Outlook addins and clicking on the button Enable will enable the disabled Outlook addins.

For Outlook 2003 the Disabled Items… is slightly different. To access the Disabled Items…applet click on About Microsoft Office Outlook->Disabked Items…
